The British Football Academy is proud to announce that we will honour a special invitation to participate in the prestigious Bayhill Premier U19 Cup set to take place in Cape Town from 16-21 April 2025.
This will be the BFA’s maiden appearance at the annual premier under-19 tournament, which is set to feature prominent clubs and academy teams from all across the country.
Head coach Siya Mnganga is eagerly anticipating the trip to the Mother City, counting on the invaluable experience and exposure his charges will be exposed to at the week-long spectacle.
“We’re very excited about our inclusion in the Bayhill U19 tournament. I think it will be lovely for all of us as it’s our first time, and it will be a very exciting experience,” said Mnganga.
“We’re looking forward to it and will be preparing hard, and it will be the kind of exposure that our boys need, playing at a level where we’ll have some of the best under-19 teams in the country, and that’s exactly what we want for our boys and for their growth.”
The BFA have been drawn in Group F, where they will come up against hometown heroes Cape Town City, JL Zwane FC and Mafikeng Football Academy for a place in the knockout stages.
“It looks like a very tough draw on paper, all of the teams are there on merit and they all will be very difficult to play against – I think the most exciting one is Cape Town City, which has, I think, one or two national U17 and U20 players,” the coach added.
“So it will be a cracker of a tournament and a difficult group – JL Zwane FC and Mafikeng Football Academy will be just as tough, but we’ll do our best to represent our province and the British Football Academy as best as we can.”
Probed on his ambitions for the tournament, Mnganga refused to get ahead of himself, keeping his focus instead on the initial challenge against each of their known opponents.
“Let’s see if we can first progress through the group, and then we’ll take it from there,” he concluded.
