The British Football Academy (BFA), one of South Africa’s fastest-growing football academies, is celebrating a record-breaking first season after securing four prestigious trophies across four different competitions.

The BFA’s team emerged victorious in the Kearsney Soccer Tournament, Durban Central LFA U17 League, Durban Summer League, and Pinetown U19 Super Cup, marking an exceptional achievement for both the young athletes and our coaching staff.

This remarkable success underscores the academy’s commitment to developing top-tier football talent and fostering a culture of excellence both on and off the field.

The trophies were earned after months of hard-fought competition, showcasing the dedication, teamwork, and skill of the BFA players, who are now recognised as some of the best in their age group.

“We are incredibly proud of our players and coaches for what has been a truly historic inaugural season,” said John Read, Director of the British Football Academy.

“Winning four trophies in four different competitions is a testament to the hard work, discipline, and passion our athletes bring to the field.

“This season is not just about the silverware—it’s about the growth of each player and the collective strength of our academy, alongside our partners Pinetown Boys High School and the Spirit Foundation.”

The BFA’s team competed at the highest level across a variety of categories, from school leagues to regional tournaments, with each victory representing a significant milestone in the players’ development.

The BFA’s coaching staff, led by Head Coach Siyabonga Mnganga, played a pivotal role in guiding the players to these triumphs, with a focus on technical development, tactical awareness, and mental resilience.

“We pride ourselves in setting ambitious goals for our players, and they’ve surpassed all expectations in what has been a remarkable first year,” said Mnganga.

“Winning these competitions not only reflects the strength of our academy, but also motivates the players to continue pushing themselves to be the best. We are excited about the future of these talented young athletes.”

Since its inception in 2024, the British Football Academy is already building a strong reputation for producing elite football talent, as shown by defender Khayalethu Mzimela’s constant inclusion in the South African National Under-17 Men’s Team.

The academy’s approach combines world-class coaching with a comprehensive player development programme, focusing on technical skills, physical conditioning, and mental resilience.

We’re excited about what 2025 holds for the BFA, and look forward to more growth and success both on and off the off the field.
